Blog 2 Line

1. Immediate Response – When i first look at this picture, i notice the cars in the background. then i notice the fence. I like this photo cause the sport is sorta kool and the picture can out get.

2. Objective Description – It was a great day. It was alittle chilly, but it wasn't to bad. It was loud too. We sat in the stands watching from slight eye level. The colorful cars roared at the hit each other. Some being to smoke. The ground was a dark brown.

3. Formal Matters – The lines are great in this picture. You can see them in the fence very well. The color is a bit dull but you can see what things should be. Everything is about centered.

4. The Story It Tells – Does it tell a story. Sure, i sorta told it when i desribed the picture. One simple noun: Cars

5. The Work in the World - Again, my photo doesnt connect well with Honore Daumier's works. One thing i noticed is that they are both sorta charotic and the colors are a bit dull. But other than that they are different. His pictures seem to have a message behind them. My photo doesnt really have a message.

Blog 1 Expressition

1. Immediate Response – What is your initial reaction to the photograph? Give your uncensored, irrational impressions of the photo. What do you notice first, what stands out and how does it affect you? My initial reaction to the photo is: wow this sure is a beautiful rose. When i look at this picture i first notice the rose to the side than i see the bacground. Seeing the rose first affects me in a way that i think beauty. And size.

2. Objective Description – Describe what is in front of you. Describe the photo as if you are painting a mental picture for someone who cannot see it. Its a beautiful close up of a light pink rose on the left side. Its petals are open wide. In the background you can see what looks like a park maybe. Its lush green, give you the sense of warm weather.

3. Formal Matters – Discuss the composition, line quality, color, placement in space.

The rose is on the left side. It is not a bad side for it to be one. but it could have been more centered. I think the compostion is great. the balance of lights and darks. The color is good too. Pinks, yellow and greens. I like how the slight yellow in the rose balances with the light blue sky and ground. Line is good. the line is the background is alittle blurry but the line on the rose is alittle blurry but clear.

4. The Story It Tells – Does the photo tell a story? Try naming the photo with one, simple noun. Does it tell a story? it could. A nice summer day. One simple noun: Summer

5. The Work in the World - How does the photo connect to Kathe Kollwitz’s drawings? Compare and contrast. Be descriptive in the similarities and differences. (You may need to look up images of this artist on the Internet to be able to make a thorough comparison. She is also discussed in the first couple of chapters of the text.) My photo doesnt connect with Kathe Kollwitz's artworks. Her's are dark and drawn with figures. Plus they are sketches. Mine is bright, colorful and a photo. There is implied lines in both though.
